Foxtail Palm Tree

Foxtail Palm Tree

This fast growing palm tree has become very popular in Florida within the last couple of years.

The Foxtail Palm is native to Queensland, Australia and can grow up to 30 feet high.

Foxtail Palms are tolerant to salt, which makes them a great palm tree for those who live near the Ocean.

Foxtail Palm Trees grow rapidly in an area with full sun, but they also thrive in partially shaded areas. Foxtail Palms can grow 2-3 feet in one year!

They tolerate temperatures down to 35F and should be protected from freezing temperatures.

USDA hardiness zones 10-11 are recommended.

Water

Foxtail Palms that are growing in flower beds may not need to be watered at all, as they are sensitive to excessively wet soil. Water as soon as the top 2 inches of soil are dry.

Fertilization

Foxtail Palm Trees do great when fertilized every 3-4 months.

Sun

The Foxtail Palm loves plenty of sunshine. They can thrive in partially shaded areas as well.

Cold

Foxtail Palms tolerate temperatures down to 35F and should be protected from freezing temperatures.
