Bottle Palm Tree

Bottle Palm Tree

The Bottle Palm Tree is definitely very unique. As it matures, the trunk becomes more bottle shaped and totally reminds me of a bottle Caribbean Rum.

Bottle Palms are native to Round Island, Mauritius and can grow up to 12 feet high with a spread of 3-5 feet.

Bottle palm trees are slow growers and do not require a lot of maintenance, they also have a high drought tolerance once they are established.

It is recommended to plant Bottle Palm Trees in an area with full sun.

USDA hardiness zones 10-11 are recommended.

Water

Keep the soil lightly moist for the first 6-8 months after planting. After than, water once a week. Good news - Bottle Palm Trees can tolerate drought for short periods of time.

Fertilization

It is recommended to fertilize Bottle Palm Trees 4 times a year. (Spring, Summer, early and late Fall)

Sun

Bottle Palm Trees do best in full sun.

Cold

Bottle Palm Trees do not tolerate frost, as they are not cold hardy. Bottle Palm Trees can tolerate temperatures down to 35F.
